Miriam Scott, born October 6, 1923, studied visual art at Smith College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1944. Upon graduating she moved to New York where she served as studio assistant to Dutch artist Joep Nicolas until the end of World War II. Next Miriam worked as a special projects photographer in the Art Department at Smith College followed by a year traveling through Europe. 

Miriam married and raised her family in Moorestown, New Jersey; London, England, and eventually Little Compton, Rhode Island.

Over the course of her career she started two successful businesses: The Box Stall and Miriam W. Scott Real Estate: Country & Coastal in Little Compton. 

An avid painter and sketch artist, Miriam continued to paint and draw until her death in 2017 at the age of 94.
